Problem Installing

Hello.

Every time I try installing Microsoft Train Simulator, I get this message appearing.



I don't know why my PC keeps on accusing me for using shared folders when I always made sure other software was off including the odd stuff that runs in the background. The only software that I left running is all my protection software, Volume and my driver software. Nothing was listed in my task bar except for the game ready for installation.

When I try installing Adobe CS3 Design Premium, when I get to the early stage of installation, I get this.



I don't know why my PC keeps on accusing me for having my Internet Explorer running at the same time when it's always off. I also rebooted and tried these two again and the same problem happens.

I've sent two attachments showing what happens with Task Manager in the image when I try to install Microsoft Train Simulator and Adobe CS3 Design Premium.

It's so annoying, I bought a brand-new PC, I set it up ready for use and this charade occurs and now I wonder if I have to format the stupid thing before I get a weeks worth of use from it. I did scan for any infections and nothing was detected. I tried the installations again and the same problem occured.

try from safe mode

you really need to optimize that computer if you aren't infected with something

I hope you don't mind me asking. How do I optimize things? First, I don't know how to do it in there and I don't want to take any risks encase I crash-up my whole PC and second, I don't know what a lot of the software is because they have initials for names and I don't want to touch what I don't know about encase I crash-up my whole PC. I checked in the Search Engines for those initialed-named programs and some drew blanks.

I did use MSCONFIG and untick about siz items and things are still wrong for me. I must add, I tried my game on my other Windows XP PC and the same problem occured and Task Manager was almost the same so Spyware can't be the fault. Another thing, I can install small softwares OK. My auto run doesn't always work neither, I have to go in My Computer, right-click on the drive where the game is and click on Open so that I can click on Set-up. I'm having problems with two other games. The Movies doesn't start a thing with installation and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City installed but it won't run. I uninstalled that now.

I sent an image of my System Configuration Utility so that you can see what loads when I boot-up. I had to Copy And Paste it from my web space this time because my Internet Explorer Pop-up AD Blocker is blocking me from using Manage Attachment in here.



Sorry to ask so much, I just can't believe after buying a new PC and before a week is through I get this happening. I know formatting won't solve anything all the time my other PC does the same.

Your Startup items may be the problem (of course, I'll let Chewie make the final call on that one). I only have 7 programs on my Startup screen.

I think the main problem is starting with a computer that's overloaded with iffy programs when brand new, then loading way too many freebies and not configuring the installs manually to behave themselves.
