    Many thanks for the help.

What is rgjror? This is what I was saying earlier, the names with initials make it hard to find out what they are and the Search Engines don't always have an answer because they think I'm searching for something else after thinking I made a typing error.

Many thanks to everyone that's chipped in to help me.

When I install software I install in my C-Drive and not my external hard drives and I choose the Typical versions during installations and choose the complete versions with four red ticks. I follow the other easy stages such as clicking on Next, OK and Finish etc and I reboot when asked.

The problem I'm having with Adobe CS3 Design Premium, I managed to install Adobe CS3 Photo Premium OK and it has the same installation method and that was after I installed about 90% of my software. The only other things I had to install was my Advast Anti-Virus, MSN Explorer, Windows Live Messenger, my printer and scanner software, and I added my personal files in My Documents as well as updating my each piece of software.

This is getting worrying because it can take for ever to track down the cause and my other PC mostly has the same software and personal files and folders left inside and that has the same problem. As I mentioned before, I don't want to format because my other PC is doing the same and I would end-up putting the problem back in.

      Many thanks.

      Darren.

are you showing 2 IE's in task manager when IE is open?

        one would be malware

have you run spybot or adaware?

I was thinking of giving AD-Aware another go but I got rid of it ages ago because AD-Watch that came with my professional version always popped-up on my screen and I was told the AD-Aware sometimes deletes the wrong files such as registry files. I thought I'd ask for your opinion first?

One of the Internet Explorers is the previous version that came with my PC and the other is the up-to-date version. I don't know why I still have the previous version still listed unless is because we have to upgrade over it. How do I disable the previous version? Sorry to ask so much, I don't know that much about PC's. I can help some people but I'm not even halfway to being an excpert as you can tell.

I have managed to install some other games and software with no problem. I managed to install Office 2007 OK and it works like a dream. The same applies to some other games.

I can't remember if Microsoft Train Simulator is compatable with Windows XP because I remember buying it years ago and I can't remember if I was still using Windows 98 then. It doesn't mention the Windows it can be used in on the CD-ROM's sleeve and I lost the main box. I remember a game called Vegas Casino that can only be installed as far as Windows 2000 and when I tried that a few years ago in Windows XP that installation failed. I remember a friend of mine bought Microsoft Train Simulator for his Windows 2000 PC. Of course, Adobe CS3 Paint Premium has something to do with my Internet Explorer and I believe it was caused when I upgraded because my other Adobe CS3 Paint Premium installed OK and I never upgraded my Internet Explorer then and those two programs have the same start off for installing.

          Many thanks.

          Darren.

I think I know what's causing that installation problem with Adobe CS3 Paint Premium. Of course I believe my Task Manager is overloaded that I'm still looking into but what I think is causing that installation problem is the new Internet Explorer. With my ISP, I used to use my FTP folder through the Internet Explorer with no problem and I remember when I upgraded to the new Internet Explorer with my other PC I couldn't access my FTP folder through the new Internet Explorer. This is because Microsoft took parts out of the new one. My other Adobe CS3 software has the same bit for installing like the Photo software and the Photo software installed fine and that was before I upgraded the Internet Explorer and now I've upgraded I have the installation problem that mentions the Internet Explorer. This is what I think is causing it. Stupid Microsoft did it again as per usual.

As I mentioned in another post, I'm wondering if Microsoft Train Simulator won't install because it's not meant to be for Windows XP. I'm sure I last installed that in Windows 98. Most of the time other software and games install fine.

Many thanks to everyone that helped me with info and suggestions.

            Darren.

you can get almost any older ms game software to run on windows xp, you just have to fool with compatibility mode
