    old = ide,atapi

    aspi is an interface the operating system and programs use, not hardware

    new computers are switching to sata burners but there are a LOT of bugs

      Thanks Chewey...Will get the Ide, which most of them seem to be for aftermarket. If it doesnt work, will send you the bill. Cheers. BTW Do I have to uninstall the old one first ??

        it's better to pull the old one out and hook the new one up the same, jumper and
        cable position

        windows will be fine, no need to mess with device manager

            I usually find and download the firmware before I get the drive and then flash in the master position(standalone), of course sometimes it already has the latest firmware.

            the OS have generic drivers that work for all optical drives, leave them alone
