Premiere, is by all means a versatile tool. I haven't used it, largely because I don't have much use of it (running an old P200). But yeah, I know lots of people who use it. I also like MGI products.

i have used mgi videowave 3, ulead video studio 4 and 5..and premier 6..its very cool..no problems yet..some people complain about little things..but you must keep in mind..Its an EDITOR..
everyone wants more effects..it has plenty but its an editor not a special effects program...nice picture joan_fl...I saw one of your vids so far..do you make them yourself or are you the gymnastics teacher?
              Take a look at

i made this little demo with premier.the clips within the demo are from existing vids i did with it also.

Like any type of construction, editing videos can be loosly compared to building a house. You use many different tools for many different jobs. There is no consumer product available that does it all. None that I am aware of at least. I use Cool Edit 2000 for certain audio edits, Studio DV for capture and quick movie making, Premiere for the nitty gritty editing, Photoshop for stills, etc, etc...

Like I said, many tools for many different jobs.

I actualy thought premier was pretty bad. Too much rendering for everything. I have been using Vegas Video 3.0 lately. Its great.

I agree with acqtrekker, different job, different tool.

                      Video editing

Video producing like giving birth to a baby, especially when it is converting our old memories stored in form of VHS or Hi8.

Sometimes I do a job then redo it and then again do it. Many times I end up in fighting with my wife, as she does not care much abount the nitty-gritty whereas I notice small differences.

To share my recent experience, I had my memories converted in VCDs. Now after learning making SVCD which are of much superior quality I have started reconverting them to SVCD.

Again I found that CCE gives much superior output vs Tmpg (no hard feelings please).

I also have shortlisted on virtualdub 2d cleaner filter.

To create small effects in the begining of the movie eq. candles, happy birthday etc I use software which is part of Roxio ezcd.

Merging AVI - Adobe premere 6.0

Sound effects - Sound forge 6.0

If someone can recommend me something which I have missed and worth trying please do so.

Anyone using Premier should definataly check out Vegas Video.

In a nutshell, it does everything Premier does, but it's way faster and it gives you a ton of effects. Not to mention stable.

I use it and swear by it. I used to use premier but hated the constant crashing and rendering.

Check out my site to see the work: www.theigloo.com

                          Thanks for the tip.
To clarify further, does it give the mixing effects as we get in adobe premiere?
Is it compatible with hollywoodfx transitions?
                          Thanks
