Downloading subtitles using Media Player Classic

I searched the forums and couldn't find anything about this so that's why I'm posting it.
Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this so please (re)move it if it should be posted somewhere else...

Download perfectly matched subtitles from within
Media Player Classic without opening a website.

    Tutorial:
MPC means Media Player Classic, it is a little old - latest release is dated 2006-03-20, but that's nothing. It is still one of the best software players.

Or if you're lazy, try my pre-configured MPC:

BTW: Can someone confirm if my pre-configured MPC works?
Somebody (not too computer literate) told me it didn't...

I hope this is useful to anybody

    cheers,

    works fine

Your version played .srt files no prob perhaps the person that reported failure didn't have VMR 9 (renderless) checked in the options.

Thanks for your feedback Chocol8y but I was mainly referring to the possibility
to download subtitles with this MPC. When you play a video file in this
pre-configured MPC you should be able to try to download matching subtitles
by selecting "File|Subtitle Database|Download..." from the MPC menu.
      Hoping someone can confirm this...

      Thanks again,

I noticed that my pre-configured Media Player Classic didn't work on some systems.

If your File|Subtitle Database|Download... option was greyed out, try this version:

        Download: MPC_subsDb_new.rar

        Here's the accompanying RAR comment:

This archive contains Media Player Classic v6.4.9.0
(2K/XP) with enabled subtitle database functionality.

It will allow the user to download matching subtitles for
the opened video file from within Media Player Classic.

The package concists of these 3 files:

        - The original unmodified MPC v6.4.9.0 (Win2K/WinXP)
        - The .ini file that holds the necessary settings to enable
Media Player Classic to display/download subtitles
        - The Media Player Classic help file

        Usage:

After extraction, open a video file in MPC and select
        File|Subtitle Database|Download... from the menu.
MPC will do a query on http://www.opensubtiles.org
to try to find matching subtitles.

Uploading subtitles through MPC is not possible as for now.
You can use SubDownloader for that:

Please do so because it helps the database grow!

All credit goes to Gabest and OpenSubtitles.org!

        greetings,
        ries
