try this, cookies cache, whatever might be loading something and it hides in regular mode from superantispyware

Hmm, Chewy, will that fix the "random ghost IE window" problem I've had for the past year as well? (Every time I open Internet Explorer, another one opens and you can't see it or use it... but it does something to cause fake errors in my system)

sounds like malware, might not be a real bad one tho and cureit might not detect it?

I don't think there is any one solution for all problems

SUPERAntiSpyware protects you from malware, ransomware & spyware. Start your free trial today & remove Spyware, Rootkits, Adware, Viruses & More!

I would run the free edition also, maybe from safe mode

@ first, thanks chewy, i tried your suggestion and softwares but they didn't solve my pop ups problem. i don't know what to do anymore. as i said, it isn't that serious, just one pop up every so often.

my popups and IE 6 crashes were mostly malware from driveby's, I sanitized my systems then updated all critical security patches/hotfixes then got religious about using firefox w/ no script on problem web sites. IE 6 still gives me a few popups and a rare crash, but I usually am going to fast trying to load too many web pages at once on a problematic wireless connection.

if you ran those 3 from safe mode I would think you are clean

popup blockers are a lot like the no script in firefox, they keep a lot of features on some web pages from working, which is a PITA

Chewy, I tried Trojanhunter, it found nothing... Ad-Aware and Spybot found nothing if I remember correctly... so it's really elusive.

It had to do with this CiD networks thing, I ran the uninstaller but now it gives ghost windows.

Sound s like that there is a script that is running in the back ground, and that is why you can't see the window. The window is being hijacked.

This might sound simplistic so pardon me if you've already
checked it but, have you looked if there are any BHOs or IE
Helper apps attached to IE? Maybe it's not something deliberately malicious
but perhaps some software installed a BHO and after an uninstall something
is still trying to load with IE.

I know sometimes windows installer gets hosed and when you
uninstall sometimes things are left half-baked. Do you ever click on
an app that asks you if you want to install something? For some reason it
seems like they used a scheme of keeping a database on your machine
and if somebody's uninstall has a bug in it, then it can hose it. I never
noticed that problem using Inno Setup!!

Have you both run your spyware and malware checks in safe mode? best way, and sometimes only way to find anything
