Old School Rule Build DVD+R To DVD-ROM To Play On All Standalone Players Not Valid

I have a Samsung upscale DVD player DVD-1080P7 that the owners manual states it will not play DVD-ROM built disks. And sure enought it doesn't, I have had to go back and re-burn my DVD-ROM built disks to DVD+R disks so they would load on the Samsung DVD player DVD-1080P7.

Don't understand why commercial DVD-ROM disks like from Blockbuster (DVD-9) will play fine, but home built DVD-5 and DVD-9 won't.

That's what I would like to know, how does it tell the difference?

it probably is so smart it takes a real hard look at the disk and mid code and adjusts it's laser appropriately, the dvd-rom bit must throw a monkey wrench into the works

      watch for a firmware update
