Have a problem with dvd writer

Hi i have a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4521B and it isnt reading the blank dvd that i put in but it reads a blank cd any help would be appreciate it

that drive is what we call a combo drive, it writes cd's but only reads dvd's
