Writing on Taiyo Yuden Silver Thermal Lacquer discs

Is writing on these discs ok (with a water solvable pen?)

Unlike the Verbs, these discs don't have the "frosted" surface, which I assume stops the ink from sinking into the disc....

I have used a sharpie on hundreds of those taiyo Yuden's

dvd blanks have their reflective layer underneath an extra layer of plastic

the top of a cd is the reflective layer

the frosting makes a better surface for inkjets

      Writing on TY Silver Disks

      Notec,
I second Chewy's response. I use Sharpie Ultra Fine Point Permanent marker exclusively for writing on
TY disks. They also make a Fine Point marker (larger point on tip). The key is you want to use a permanent
marker. It bonds with the surface of the disk and won't smudge (allow to dry 1st - usually very fast). I've
never tried a water solvable pen. I suspect it would be subject to smudging and possibly not permanent
especially if H2O gets on the disk from fingers or some other method. Disk cleaners might also affect the
      solvable ink.

      Cheers,
