I have heard that HDV is not a good shooting format for observational documentary work as the movement of the frame is too constant for the intraframe technology. I see that Sony has a prosumer version of their XDCAM technology out. Unlike their higher end XDCAM cameras, this camera works on an intraframe codec (what they are calling their "XDCAM-EX intraframe codec"). Does anyone have experience with this camera for hand held work? Does anyone have other suggestions for cameras/codecs that will hold up? I'm looking for solutions that will be 10,000 USD or less for both the camera and lens. Is this possible?
