    Wrong Audio track for ripped vob files

    Ok...I used cladDVD to rip my dvd. It gave me 5 vob files. Then i used a program called DVD2AVI. It took about 4 hours to finish and then i played it and the sound was not matching the scene. It was the director talking about other names of the movie! I need help im ripping final destination it was set to audio track 3 so i changed it to see if it would make a diference but it just came out as something else. Is there a way to find out the correct audio to go with the movie?

    you will hardly find any user here proposing dvd2avi for conversion!!

    this tools is good for pre-transcoding steps but not for the actual process.

    so you either make yourself familiar with a decent way of transcoding the material or explain in more detail what routine you used.

    if you use SMARTRIPPER for *transfering* the data to your hdd, you can find a textfile afterwards, which will state all the included audio-streams and languages.

      I suggest ripping the audio with Vob2audio or Graphedit (to get a .wav file), and converting the .wav file into .mp3 file using any MP3-capable encoders (such as LAME). Then you can mux this audio file together with the video file (that you will create using other methods), using virtual/nandub.

      UncasMS is right. use DVD2AVI only for frameserving purposes. DVD2AVI lacks many of the editting features that (for a good example) Virtualdub possesses.

        ok...

        --ok i used smart ripper to rip the vob files and it came out with the notepad with the info, but i still have no idea what it means. There is a section called "stream info" which im sure is it. here's the information:

        ***************
        * Stream Info *
        ***************

        Stream[001] X=[[0xE0] Video NTSC 720x480] [] [] [] []
        Stream[002] X=[[0x80] Audio English AC3(6Ch) 48kHz Normal Caption] [] [] [] []
        Stream[003] X=[[0x81] Audio English AC3(2Ch) 48kHz Normal Caption] [] [] [] []
        Stream[004] X=[[0x82] Audio English AC3(2Ch) 48kHz Directors Comments] [] [] [] []
        Stream[005] X=[[0x83] Audio English AC3(2Ch) 48kHz ] [] [] [] []
        Stream[006] X=[[0x84] Audio English AC3(6Ch) 48kHz ] [] [] [] []
        Stream[007] X=[[0x20] Subtitle English Normal Caption] [] [] [] []
        Stream[008] X=[[0x??] Others] [] [] [] []

        --Now what program should i use to convert the vob files into avi format. I also tried that vob2audio to convert the vob into wavs, but when i selected the .lst file and the target file it wouldn't let me hit start. Sorry im such a noob . This is my first time doing this. I appreciate you guys helping me.
        --ronnie(i also attached the info.txt file if you guys want to see it)

          here we go;

          0x80 is always audio track/stream number 1
          0x80 => 2
          and so on.

          thus you would know for the following process, which stream is what language.

          for vob2audio handling, take a look at my guide.

          which software for the transcoding of your video?
          -well, my suggestion would be GORDIONKNOT + DIVX5

            I don't think i made it clear enough in my last reply...sorry about that, but when i load the .lst file into vob2audio and put in a target name nothing shows up in the 'audio stream' box. Check out my .lst file. I opened it in notepad, but this is all it said

              make sure NOT to use BLANKS in your directory names!!!

              rename and change the list file accordingly!

                --Ok its changed to that now, but i still have nothing in the audio stream box. I rename my smart ripper folder as shown. There is no spaces whatsoever. Do i have to re-rip the vob files or something?

                  did you change the list-file as well?

                  if so, vob2audio may not work in this case.

                  in that case use DVD2AVI

                    Yeah i changed the list file too. The text u saw was the text out of the list file. Is there maybe another program i could use to do this process?

                        Hey dude, your guide worked great. I didn't realize how long it took though to make the dvd rip. I do have one more question. On some of the dvd rips i've seen the quality has been excellent. Mine on the other hand wasn't as crisp as the others i've seen. How do i make is so it has the best quality possible for under 700 mb?

                          to answer this question we would need to know WHICH routine you actually used?

                          using nandub or gordianknot/divx5 a very important aspect for sharpness is the resizer that you use.

                          i use SHARP/PRECISE BICUBIC only
                          it is the slowest resizer but the sharpest/most precise

                            I used gordionknot with sharp cubric. I didnt resize the video at all. All i did was hit 'auto crop'.

                              then, however, your file should not be less sharp than any other movie made with any other routine.

                              any chance of double-checking or cross-reference?

                              maybe this particular film isnt that sharp/crisp?
                              what do the vob files look like, when you watch them via powerdvd/windvd?
