I loaded BitRate Viewer (free version) and it shows stuff like max and min bitrate as well as the quality levels of a vob file. I'm wondering if anyone out there uses it and if the values/info it gives you can be related to the translation to divx.
Also, I saw a post about the 5.x version creating lines in the video. I tried it and got lines that look like zaps across the image, not interlace problems. Also strong diagonal lines stairstepped in scenes that were panning - kinda like this:
