Creating thumbnails of Video

Hi, I was just wondering, is there any software out there that will create thumbnails of video frames?
I have an hour long avi file, and want to create thumbnails/pictures of the frames, the faster the output the better, as I have a few of these files.

Open your video in Media Player Classic. Then File/Save thumbnails.

It lets me choose 8 rows/8 columns, but the thumbnails are minutes apart.
How can I get it to produce more thumbnails?

Go to each individual frame you wish to create a thumbnail of. Then Save image. Now resize all the images to your desired thumbnail size.

I want to create a thumbnail around every 5 seconds, that would take a while for an hour long video

Is there no real programs, designed to do this, free or paid, as I have a few of these to do. Something thats fast, and has a few more options than mpc?

Yeah, I searched google, but I thought I'd ask here, to see if anyone knew of good trusted ones, as opposed to the many dodgy programs that are out there.

Guess I'll try that one, nonetheless.
