turning cd-r into mini dvds posable?

dose anyone know if it is posable to reformat a cd-r to make it or fool it into behaveing like a dvd? by this i mean not making a vcd but a dvd on a cd-r or cd-rw or can you blank out the identifing file? so it reads as blank ready for format
also thers a roomer that ther is a way of blanking cd-rs by righting a blanking track? (just curous!)

Yes this is possible, but I don't believe this is supported by all standalone DVD players.
