Going to check out at Circuit City tomorrow LG new GBWH20L Blu-Ray reader/burner at 6X write speed on BD-R media.

$279 at Circuit city in store or on line ordering

Great review from the feedback at Circuit City.

Still concerned about firmware update on this unit, the LG web-site STILL does not even list this unit.

    SATA interface
    LightScribe disc label technology

The LG GGW-H20L is only $262 from mwave.com. The only difference is that this drive retains HD DVD reading, whereas the GBW is Blu-ray only:

This drive is on the LG website (http://us.lge.com/products/model/det...GGW-H20L.jhtml)

      How was the Blu-Ray?

What was the outcome of your visit to Circuit City? Is Blu-ray=HD-DVD?

Just got back from Circuit City and I did pick-up the LG GBW-H20L and I am in the process of sending in the registry card and reading the owners manual.

The owners manual gives the web-site location for the firmware updates
Welcome to LG CA. We deliver consumer electronics that allow you to embrace life and prepare you for its greatest moments. Learn about our electronics.

This unit was build in late May 08 and no new firmware updates since then according to their web-site.

Unit comes with the following software programs:
        Power DVD
        Power producer (burning software)
        Power2GO lightScribe support
        Instant Burn
        power backup
        BD advisor

Probably will not use any of the bundled software programs, but will check them out. Still need to install one more piece of software before I can test out BD burner on a BD-9 disk.

Probably will install in computer tomorrow.

Only problem (so far) about LG and this model is the way they have their web-site layed out, and the method of getting firmware updates.

They also send you quite a bit of information they want you to send back to them for their research for future products.
