hi, i hope i`m on the right forum,
i`m looking to buy a digital camcorder, i`m not wanting to spend more than £200.
    any recommendations ?
also, how much recording time do you get per GB (MEMORY CARDS)
has any one tried the Flip F260B ?
    cheers, banksy.

You won't get much for £200 or under unless you find a site of all places with supersonic bargains.

When you film, it depends on the speed you film with. If I'm not mistaken, when you film on a slower speed a 30GB-hard-drive can take up to about 50 to 60 hours but you might lose quality. I prefer the normal speed at 7 hours for best quality. 7 hours is still plenty and you can always back-up anything to DVD discs before editing the footage as a home movie. A small piece of footage for one minute uses more than I expected. Some short clips I filmed went over 8MBs.

Don't make the same mistake I did one time and think you can film on an SD card as well, you can't. Those are only for the photos. When I looked on the back of an SD card it mentioned video and I didn't know that was for if you want to put video in it from a PC.

By the way, stay away from JVC because I have a beef with them. I've tried five of theirs and I was never happy. One was made without a light and the camcorder had so many things that were never mentioned in the manuel. My next choice is Sony. If you want a decent camcorder, 60% of me says you'll face at least another £100 to £150 on top unless you're not into all the fancy stuff added. My Sony that I'm getting is £350 from the Littlewoods catalogue.
