Help with virtualdub

i dl a movie from Ares ... when i play it the sound is faster than the movie ...
so i dl virtualdubs and another one called .... divx codec i think ...
and i cant seem to load my movie in the virtualdub .... it says couldn't locate decompressor for format XVID ... whats the meaning ???
anyone help pls ... i wan watch the movie ....

You answered your own Q ... you need XviD Codecs ... downlaod from here and install and try again ...

I don't know whether we should be answering this , G.
So, I am replying to YOU.

Virtualdub is a VFW(Video For Windows) application. So ,it needs the VFW forms of the codecs. The DivX codec is enough to decode XviD. But, it MUST be the DivX VFW and not the DivX Directshow. Installing XviD will ,however, get rid of this problem. Another option is to install FFDSHOW( which has both Directshow and VFW codecs). Yet another option is to open the video in VD via an AVISynth script(DirectShowSource) using the DivX directshow filter.
