How to choose an HDTV (A Step by Step Guide)

If you know enough about video to visit these forums, then invariably you have been asked: "What HDTV should I get?" or "Which is better, Plasma or LCD?"

Well, I got tired of answering that question, so I decided to write a step by step guide on how to choose the right TV. It can be found here.

The next time someone asks, me, I can just direct them to my blog! (After a general answer of course.)

Hope some of you can find use with this. If there are any recommendations, please let me know.

    Thanks!

        Great job TNT.

        I am bias towards:
at least 3 HDMI inputs. (lots of DVD devices)
        1080P (best picture)
over the air tuner and digital tuners built in (view it all and some free)
at least one 1080p conponent connection (I think Sanyo is the only one who has one 1080p component connection)
        LCD (last longer)
        120hz (best for fast motion)

My girlfriend is always complaining about her HDTV screen is too big for her front room, and that I talked her into getting too big of a screen.

I will send her your article to read, maybe she will change her mind, but not likely.

Partial to Plasma due to the "view from any angle" thingee..
          Excellent article though...

Thanks all, I hope it helps someone.

The reason I said at least 1 HDMI input, is because If you have at least 1, you can always hook it up to a receiver or switcher, but without it, well, what can you do?

Lcd is good for a room that is brighter, plasma is better in a darker room. Just my 2 cents.

                      hi gonwk,
                      it's an LG.

there were a couple of things that i wanted to see in a new tv and most of it was given with this LG:

                      - lcd instead of plasma due to lower power consumption
                      - full hd resolution
                      - decent amount of connections
                      - reasonable price
                      - stylish look
