need to burn DVR shows to disk

Greetings
I have a direct TV HD DVR that I have recorded several shows on,for my dauther over seas. the recorder is a leftover from a previous provider( direct TV).But I'm sure the programing is still recorded. is there some hareware/software that allows me to capture those programs to burn and send to her on disk?

Went to "at&t Home network". Though I save some money,to help pay for higher internet speeds(now on Wi Fi Vs. dial up) programing/recording is half as good. Cea La Vie.

You'll need to get a dvd recorder and connect the dvr's output to feed into the recorder..that will allow you to record to a blank dvd whatever shows that are saved to the dvr's hard drive. Since you have satellite, you won't need a model with a digital tuner, which lowers the cost of the model you need.

You should avoid any Sony models though, as they are reportedly very sensitive to copy protection signals-some material from pay channels like HBO, Showtime, even though recorded to the dvr drive, may have copy protection that blocks recording to something else...
