DVD shrink help

Hi I have just downloaded DVD shrink. Can I import a movie file downloaded from Aries ultra onto my hard drive into DVD shrink? or will DVD shrink only shrink files from a DVD. I keep getting an error message when I click the open file tab. Thanks in advance
