    A DirectX Question?

    Hi folks,

I was trying to install a Demo game "Battlefiled 2" on my laptop that has Vista Home Prem, 64-Bit. The program was trying to install "DirectX 9" on my laptop! So I stopped the installation.

I know I already have "DirectX 10" on my laptop (part of Vista).

Q1: Do I need "DirectX 9" to run the game?

Q2: If not I wonder if I can do custom install and skip installation of the DirectX 9?

Q3: Can you have Directx 9 and Directx 10 on the same computer (Vista)?

    Thanks,

    G!

You can run the DX9 installer, it won't harm your DX10 installation. Vista actually has both DX9 and DX10, and they co-exist, but the clean Vista install has an old version of DX9 and so in fact, you should run the installer (BF2's bundled version of DX9 may be a bit old though).

most installers will just pass if they found better or newer version of directx, ...
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!
