Streaming live video - which app?

Can anyone recommend a free streaming app? I would like at least 5 frames/second update and preferably no-plugins, but perhaps I'm too fussy?

I've tried Purecaster, but just wondered if there where any freebies similar.

Why not RealVideo.. most everyone has it installed.

5 fps? that would be very low. I would recommend Windows Media, everyone's got it. Or you could stream divx (but plug-in required).

Thanks for the replies but I've never liked Realplayer as it seems to take over!

I actually want to capture and stream simultaneously so it's not a matter of file format but an app which can act as a webserver and can stream live video - that's what I'm after.

A live broadcast? I think windows media should be able to, but I'm not totally sure.

or any windows media file is specifically encoded into a
file that is capable of being streamed. you need to make your pc into a streaming server. this does take specially encoded media depending on baud width you plan to transfer data on.
dial up or broad band. the host server takes a few plug-ins and the hard drive space. you post a direct link to the file on your web page and they basically dial straight into your ip. the plugins create the client software for the server base. it is very similar to shoutcast for winamp. something about proxy server settings i believe.

i believe another thing to look into is the software behind netmeeting. i believe that is a video confrencing program. search almost all of microsoft's database but no further info. they say it can be done from streaming servers with a plugin and client software, but no specifics. sorry i can not be any more help

the purecast looks like a fairly nice broadcaster.
do you know if the pay version delivers more fps?
