is there a program out there that will queue up multiple .avi then convert them into multiple dvds, then create multiple isos?

ImgBurn will not convert anything to anything else.
AVIDemux is a great freeware converter (others include DVD Flick and there are payware alternatives, too). After you have the project in DVD form, burn with ImgBurn.

It's all dependant on the hardware he intends to use to view these on.
Divx capabilities, then I'd keep the AVI format and get more on the disc.
If not, then he would have to convert to dvd format for his standard dvd player to be able to play them.Comment

@ JMKLOZ ... don't waste your time converting AVI's to DVD ... best thing to do is what Budreaux suggested ... just buy a decent Tabletop DVD Player that it has DivX capabilities ... you can pick one up real cheap ... get one with USB connection in the front.
