    Experts advise needed - CCE

    Greetings,

I have converted my Hi8 analog to AVI through virtual dub.

Now while encoding it to Mpeg2 for SVCD through DVD2SVCD, I tried two options, Tmpg and CCE.

CCE gives visibly sharper output with vivid colours.

    Problem:

When the camera has moved horizontly in the longshot or in zooming the object, the movements are jerky in the CCE coded mpeg2. This is not so in case of Tmpg coded output, it gives smooth movements.

I have tried almost all the combinations in CCE but could not resolve.

    Can someone help?

    Thanks

Are you leaving the video interlaced? I have noticed that by leaving it interlaced, the video is much smoother.

      Hi,
Thanks for reply. I do leave it interlaced.
By the way while applying the virtual dub filters the "preview" appears deactivated (gray).
So I can not see any preview.
      Any suggestions.
To remove the large square blocks would you suggest any specific filter?

As far as the preview not being enabled, I will have to wait till I get home and check for you.

To get rid of large blocks, I would suggest using smart filter by Donald Graft. It works well on large ones. There are alot of great filters for avisynth at this site: http://sauron.mordor.net/dgraft/

try setting your field order to bottom first (field B).
just do a single chapter to test it out.

            Hi,
I spent quite some time in trying to test out the filters.
            1) Since I was trying to apply filters while capturing the Hi8 and trying view the preview. This is not possible. I learnt that I should capture the film in the normal way and then try experemrnting with the filters. There preview is visible.
            2) 2D cleaner is the better amongst all filters. I can vouch for that, unless someone has different opinion.
            Thanks
