saving private ryan and decryption

has anybody else had problems trying to extract the vobs of this movie?
i've tried claddvd, smartripper, and vstrip.
nothing on my system will recognize the dvd at all
windvd and all rippers say no disk in drive when it is there.
have you ever seen this? if so how can i fix this?
does anybody elso know of more dvd's like this?

Can you play the DVD using your software DVD player in the first place? If so, try ripping again with the player active (Just have it open. No need to play the DVD).

1) Have you tried cleaning the DVD (especially if it's a rental - it's been "around the block quite a few times by now)?

2) Have you tried and successfully played any other DVDs after this one failed?

Is the DVD authentic? I've seen a few non-authentic (boot-leg) DVDs that won't play at all.

nothing is working
i had the rental place clean the dvd before renting it.
the dvd is not being recognized in anything
not even if i try to view it in the window's explorer
it only plays in a stand alone dvd player hooked directly into my tv. has anybody heard of this before. very good protection

If you can't play any others, you may have to use a DVD drive cleaning CD. Maxell makes one that sells for about $10.00 U.S. If that doesn't work, your laser is probably out of alignment - and it's usually less costly to buy a new drive than to have a tech fix the alignment...

you think it is the laser
it steal reads cdr
think a reinstall of dvd drivers would do it
tried three different dvd's but nothing and only recognizes the cdr's only.
what would cause this?
i'm extreamly concerned about this
do you know how to keep them from doing this.

tried the saving private ryan cd again and poof back to nothing.

this corrected itself after either removal of spr or reboot
