    Splittint mpeg2 files

I have large mpeg2 files which are of good quality so I don't want to save them in another format but can't find software that will split these. TMPGE doesn't seem to work.
    Anyone have other suggestions?
    thanks

    "TMPGE doesn't seem to work."

It should work, if you have the required companion VFAPI plugin installed (and possiblya separate MPEG2 plugin available at DVD Digest/ DivX Digest). How are you trying to use it and what error message(s) are you getting?

Sorry, I did not fully explain. It does work for me but not the way I thought it would. It's an ignorant learners problem. I can condense the files but don't know how to split them. I'm still playing with it.
Any help with this will be appreciated.

This can be easily and precisely accomplished using TMPGEnc. Under the "Files" dropdown menu, click on "MPEG Tools" and select the "Merge & Cut" tab. Make sure to change the mode to "MPEG2". Load your file and enter a new (.MPG) name in the "Output file" box. Then doubleclick on the ORIGINAL file's name in the window, which will bring you to the cutting area. Select your desired start and end points for the first half, click on "Okay" which will bring you back to the first window and generate (in a sequence of three automated steps) the first new file. To create the second new file, repeat the steps starting with "Then doubleclick on the ORIGINAL..." (be extra patient with the second half, as the program has to do more seeking to establish the beginning of the new file).

          I've got it!

Thanks for the replies....I've figured it out. I just made it too difficult in my head but it is rather simple.
Sorry for my mispelling of 'splitting'.
