Make AVI's smaller

Hi I would like to make my AVI's smaller but would like to keep them AVI's can someone help me?

If the .avi is compressed then the only way I know is to reduce the bit rate. The easiest to try may be AviDemux 2.4. Set it up for xvid encoding 1 pass mode. Use MediaInfo to find out the current bit rate of your .avi. Do a one pass encode with AviDemux at a lower bit rate.

Don't use AviDemux 2.5 unless you are willing to use 2 pass mode. The one pass mode is much inferior to v. 2.4.

edit: btw to keep the same audio and just encode the video, leave the Audio setting as Copy.
