to those people who have so far advised me on my issues.
And to Avery Lee in particular for the utterly brilliant VirtualDub,
that in conjunction with SRTtoSSA, SubToSup and DVDSubEdit have meant that so far I have succeeded in converting 50 out of my several hundred Japanese/Chinese/Korean DVD's into a format streamable across my home network to both my XBox and my parents home entertainment system.
(Have even managed to letterbox previously un-letterboxed video, sooooo happy about that).
Can now file away all my hard copy DVD's and just use my 50TB disc array to store my movies conveniently
