    AVI Video but no Sound

    I have an AVI file where the video plays fine but I cannot hear the audio. I have used a utility to determine the video codec (DIV3/DIV4) but I have no info on the audio codec. I have downloaded the most recent WMP codecs from microsoft's site and the most recent DivX codecs. Still no sound. Any suggestion would be most welcome. Thanks,

    Right click on the file. Select "Properties" and then select "Advanced" You'll see information regarding both the video and audio codecs used. Chances are the file may use the so-called DivX audio, which is included as part of the Divx v. 3.11 installation file.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      I'm running W2k so my dialog boxes are a little different from what you described. When I right click on the file and go to properties, I get a dialog box with three tabs: General, Security, and Summary. Under summary, I get info on the audio and video. The audio says Windows Media Audio V2.

        That's the "DivX" audio incorporated as part of the DivX v.3.11 installation.
