Hows the difference SVCD Vs. VCD?

howdi all,

I read that SVCD's are better quality than VCD's but technically hows that possiible coz youre still using the same mpeg file?

anyone any ideas?

SVCD has higher video resolutions, and hence file size. In addition, SVCD is actually an MPEG-2 file, as opposed to VCD.

How do you make SVCD instead of VCD then coz my burning software only gives me the choice of VCD (NT Technologies Burning Software).

Or

Do i have to encode in TMpeg as MPEG-2?

SVCD's are mpeg 2, the technology behind dvds. An SVCD affords a higher resolution and bitrate. Whereas a vcd may be confined to 1.15 mpbs an SVCD can offer a range from 2 Mbps-8 Mbps. However, this can also increase file size. Visit vcdhelp.com for further information.
