When i try to join AVI's it says there of different codecs? is there a way to fix this, can i still join the avi's or change the codecs for the avi's.

If you have the different codecs installed on your system (each of the .AVI files DO play separately), you can load one into VirtualDub and resave it using the indicated codec of the other. You should then be able to joing the files.

How do you change the codec using VitualDub But and secondly how do u know what codec the other one is please help.

From the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Compression". You'll see a list of available video codecs.

Right-click on the file. Select "Properties", then select "Advanced" (in Win 98). You'll see information about both the video and audio codecs.

If you still can't determine which codecs were used, simply change each file (using VirtualDub) to the same video codec.
