    No Sound and No picture

    Hello,

I am kind of new to all this so bear with me I will try to explain the problem the best I can. I have a movie I am trying to watch that shows no picture or sound no matter which version I download. Here is the info I get with Movie Type Finder:

    FourCC Info:
    FileStrean: DiVX
    Compressed Stream: DX50

This FourCC code is used for versions 4.0 and later of DiVX codec.

    Here is my system:

    Athalon 1.4 with a Geforce 2 400 64mb vid card
    DiVX bundle 5.0.2 installed
    Windows Media Player (latest version)
    Windows 2000

I have no trouble playing any other video just this one and I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Done get this message:

Couldnt locate decompressor for format "DX50" unknown.

VirtualDub requires of video for windows (VFW) compatible codec for decompress video. Directshow codec, such as those used by windows media player, are not suitable.

Thats the error message I got from trying to open it with VirtualDub.

Use wmp 6.4 for playback or gdivx.
        Try installing divx 3.11 alpha

Tried GDiVX but it does the same thing no sound and no picture. I also have Alpha 3.11 codecs installed too. Dont really want to downgrade to WMP 6.4 since this is the only video I seem to be having problems with. Any other suggestions?

First uninstall the divx 5.02 codec, then try a codec pack such as TSUNAMI or NIMO. Also do a search on google.com for "dx50"

Have TSUNAMI and Nimo codecs installed already - tried the searches on the net for DX50 to see any known bugs. My last resport was to post here for some more info hehe... no biggie at least its the only video that doesnt work.

Thanks for your help, if you have any other suggestions they will be greatly appreciated

Well, since this is your last resort, back up the file and try divfix.
