    Divx codec...help p..l..e..a..s..e..

    To make an

    svcd
    playable on standalone DVD player
    out of Hi8 handycam analog source

    with the help of

    -Virtualdub, Huffyuv (capture),
    -Tmpgenc (encode),
    -Ulead Dvd factory or Nero (chapters,menus)

    do I need to install and DivX codecs?
    If yes, which version ?
    I have XP OS.

    Only if you want to capture the video as a DivX.

      Thanks for reply.
      I, with my limited understanding not been able to figure out that what is divX and what is the use of it.
      I simply wish to make SVCD thru Mpeg 2.

        NOT necessary.

        Becouse when you capture you're video to the computer, this must be in a readeble format (sorry my Eng). avi, mpeg...
        an d the only thing you have to do is open the video file with TMPGEnc and that is. If TMPGEnc can't read the file, you can use Virtual dub like server.
