Subtitle problems, not on website

I'm using MicroDVD and subtitles and when it's selected transparent subtitles it keeps popping up and saying it can't detect the current settings of my video card or something like that and I can turn of the warning by blahblahblah, so I do. I'm using a GeForce2MX250. Only problem it doesnt tell me HOW to get/make/force it to detect my card so it CAN use the transparent subs, just how to turn off the warning. Any ideas?
