    Video Codecs

Im havin this weird problem. I have all these avi files, and some play fine on my XP pro system, but many do not. They play in Win Media player as 2 hour audio files, not the 22 minute video files that they are.

But they play normally on a Win 2000 Pro machine.

Im using media player 8.0, and have the Nimo Codec Pack.

Any suggestions to get the files to play normally in XP?

As in only visualisations and the audio are played? If so, it sounds like you are missing the necessary codecs, which your Win2K system apparently possesses. You can check what codec has been used to compress each movie file (that you are having trouble with) using VirtualDub. In addition, try playing the movies using WMP 6.4 (Run mplayer2.exe from the Run command) and see if it plays the files.
