Why are the movies all blocky ? Please help!!!!!!!!!

The flick in question is a divx , but other flicks

such as SVCD`s have given the same problem.

when i tried to play it in

Windows media the video was all coloured blocks ,

but Divx player will play it , as would Windows media

    when i installed FFdshow.

But i cannot convert this flick to Mpg with TMPGenc

to make a VCD , as TMPG still produces all the blocks , & Nero still

    sees all this as well.

How can i make a VCD out of such a flick ? & what`s the problem

with so many coming out this way ?

    i attatch a screenshot of it`s properties , i used windows

because Virtual dub can`t open the flick as it couldn`t locate

the decompressor for format `DX50` & it says direct show

codecs etc..... aren`t suitable for V . dub

i tried AVI 2 VCD , but it took several hours for the 1st 19

minutes of the flick , & the result was an upside down picture...

    Help is anticipated & appreciated

looks like you have NOT installed DIVX5!

install divx 5.02 and it should work.

      Thanks..But still a problem....

      Hi

i installed divx 5.02 as suggested

It looked like it would work , TMPGenc

2.54 accepted it . had no blocks , but only did

around 30 & of flick , in a horrendous amount of time

it estimated the flick would take just under 4 hours

to convert & thought it was over 4 hours long , & it`s only

about 90 minutes long in reality . The 30 % that did convert

before i get a write error @ address 00485417 of module

      TMPG.exe with 00218000

Are there any further tips one can give me to get this flick

      to a VCD ????

      TIA -
