heres a few things to try

try reinstalling your software that youve got. or even better try installing power dvd.

if that does work there may be a problem with the region setting either on you dvd drive or the dvd itself.

im from australia and the dvd movies avaliable here are region 4. this means that i have to set my dvd player to region 4 - else they wont play.

check your dvd player corrosponds correctly to the dvd that your trying to play.

a word of caution - this regional setting can only be changed 4 times - after that the settings are perminantly burnt into the dvd and they cant be changed. most people already know this - i include this disclaimer just so nobody gets screwed.

if the regional settings are fine and still have no joy - well im out of ideas - try updating drivers.

oh - the dvd might be buggered - try another one.

    hope this was helpful.
it might be useful to decribe the things that you have tried - it'll help others to suggest solutions.
