how to avoid audio out of synch

is there a way to avoid the audio to be out of synch when you are encoding a movie from a DVD to Divx?

I am using FlaskMPEG to make the AVI file and I encode the audio at 96kbs at 48000.

If you sample higher say 128kbs can it make a difference?

yes it could

flask is hardly able of handling mp3 properly

create your mp3 separately and mux the video (created by flask) and your mp3 and all should be fine.

Don't use the codecs in any other application while flask is encoding, ie don't play another movie or even play mp3's while encoding is in progress. I've got a lot of desync while I did this...
