    Ripping Music Video DVD, Burn to DVDR or VHS

    I want to rip my Music Video DVD's, Mix them and Burn them either on DVD, or record ont VHS. What kind of goodies are required for all this?

    to rip the DVDs:

    get a ripper. Note, these are now potentially illegal.

    I recommend smartripper.

    to mix them: 1st you would need to encode them to some playable digital format, such as MPEG or divX. To do this you need an encoder such as flaskmpeg or xmpeg. (xmpeg is just a slightly modified version of flaskmpeg) To cut the video, get something like TMPenc to cut the appropriate segments. Editing requires even more software, such as Ulead's video studio. Recording them to DVD is not so tragic, provided you have a DVD burner. Note that to play a media file on a DVD player requires some rather stringent requirements on the encode settings. However, that is for VCDs, and I have no real exp. with burning DVDs since the devices are so damn expensive. Recording to VHS would be much trickier.
