no vobsub "ifo" file to load in Gknot

    Hi

i started to have a strange problem with the DVD "out of africa" :

everything normal untill after indexing, vobsub creates only two files, the *.idx and the *.sub...missing the ifo file that i need to load in Gknot...

    any help ?

Newer versions of vobsub does not create a new ifo file, all you need is the .idx file and the .sub file.

              The idx file, I think.

Ok. i loaded the *.idx file as u said, and got a movie that when the subs appear, the image turns totaly black...

installed the vobsub version that comes with Gknot package, but still makes me only two files now...(missing the IFO again)

try to contact Gabest by mail...no answer!!

am i condemned to make movies without subs?...

Must be a problem with the avisynth plugin. You might be able to solve it by installing the latest version of vobsub, but make sure that you select the virtualdub and avisynth plugins durring the install.

If that does not solve it, I'am not sure exactly what the problem might be. To work around it, I suggest that you don't add the subs in gordianKnot, but do it in virtualdub instead.
Unfortunatly this means that you will have to configure the encoding manually in virtualdub.

Doom9's Xvid Guide explains how to do this (with xvid but it can be done with divx5 as well). Basically you configure the preprocessing in GordianKnot (but without subs). Then you load the avs file into virtualdub, and configure the encoding in virtualdub. To get the subs burned into the encoding, you need to select Video->'Full processing mode' and Video->Filters, and select and configure the vobsub plugin, before starting the encoding.
If you have configured the vobsub plugin correctly, you should be able to see the subs in the output preview window.

You might also try searching the GordianKnot and AviSynth forums at http://forum.doom9.net for any simmilar postings.

                    Hi
i guess i found the problem...
i was selecting "custom colors" in the vobsub window...now i have left it with the default settings, and two movies came out preety fine.

thanks anyway for your time "Khp"!

by the way, can u just tell me what do the DVD2AVI options "PC scale" "TV scale" mean?

                    thanks

PS: i can´t get in doom's forum...i login perfectly well, but when i try to view the threads, it tells me that there is nothing new for the last 30, 60, 100....days!!!!
i send mail to the forum administrator two months ago....no answer...
