all thr latest films dvd quality

i am new to this scene and require some advice i have bought top end pc with pioneer dvdr a dvd player and phillips 880 recorder.
most of the dvd quality films i have are on divx and i need to get them on to dvdr.
i tried to get the hulk converted but dont know were to begin.
how do i go from divx format to say svcd.
once on svcd i can put through my dvd player into my phillips.???
seems the best way for me to go any advice please.

i have that program but it looks a minefield is there something out that just loads up and convers say like nero with mp3s.
i have no patience and have sat for hours nai days messin with programs with crap results.???

i tried templares the file i select is not supported
i dont think i have i recent vers of it and the sourse is audio and video but i have one divx file?
none will load i have d/l divx 5.03 that looks just as bad .
