DVD on Playstation2?

Hi all
I am really new to all of this, and was wondering if anyone could help? I don't have a standard DVD player just the Ps2 and am not too sure what to do when copying dvd/divx movies to disc? to play on the ps2. Do I need a special program? I only have a standard cdwriter cause the DVDwriters are just a little to expensive for myself. I am just learning the basics of putting music to disk, but just the thought of putting a movie on disk is a bit overwelming and I know I will muck something up. I know that my Ps2 will play the cd-r disks that I have put music on but it wont read re-writables. so is it okay to put a dvd onto a standard audio(cd-r) disk?

If anyone could help that would be awesome cause i am a bit

You will need to buy a mod-chip for your PS2 to view movies on it, and with that mod-chip you will also be able to play burned PS2 games that are also on cd-r. Visit www.lik-sang.com for more info.
