    can't play AVI file in DivX player..

    well i downloaded this movie (Avi Format) but whenever i try to play it in Divx player (old version + alpha) it keeps showing me this notice: "Failed to open (filename).avi".. i read an old post about changing the fourCC of the file but the problem is that the fourCC changer program can't load the file.. i really need to play the file in Divx player but i don't know how to do it.. i mean i've got all the codecs needed for the file, so what could possibly be the problem? any help would be appreciated..

    1. Load up the AVI file into GSpot and post a screenshot of the information displayed here.

    Alternatively:
    1. Open the file in Virtualdub
    2. Go to File -> File Information
    3. Post what information you see here

        1) The file appears to require the Xvid codec and NOT a DivX codec

        2) Your question may more appropriately have been posted to the brand spanking new "p2P" sub-forum here ;>}

          thanks for the reply Setarip..
          i noticed that the file requires the xvid codec and i downloaded it too, but the thing is there's no xvid player i can use and so i don't know where to play the file so i could get it working properly..
          oh, and next time i'll post something i'll take your advice on the p2p new forum..

            "but the thing is there's no xvid player i can use and so i don't know where to play the file"

            Once you've installed the XviD codec, NO SPECIAL XviD player is required. The video should play under Windows Media Player (preferably v.6.4), BS Player, and any number of other players...
