    How to join multiple segments?

    I have an .avi that's split into 43 segments 15MB each, in the format 'movie.avi.001' to 'movie.avi.043'.

    Problem is, I didn't do this myself, I got the files from a friend, and neither one of us knows how to join these files into one 'movie.avi' playable file.

    What program could have made this and how do I join them?

    Thanks!

    Use VirtualDub. Load the first segment. Then, under the "Files" dropdown, select "Append .Avi Segments". Put a check in the box to append all in sequence and then doubleclick on the second segment. It should then load all of the sequentially numbered segments.

    Under the "Video" dropdown, change to "Direct Stream Copying".

    Under "Files", select "Save as .AVI" and provide a new name for the sequentially appended file.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

    P.S. You may run into a snag if the framerates aren't identical (to the 4th decimal place!) - but, one step at a time.

      Problem solved!

      I got a tip about a program called HJSplit:

      This program does the trick, so I finally can get to see this movie.

      Thanks for your help though!
