    VCD plays fine at first!

Burnt vcd fine (in nero) and it was playing ok on pioneer DV-340 dvd player untill it got half way through and then the video went pixelated in parts of the picture and jumpy and the audio was jumping in and out aswell

Any ideas as it plays fine off the original mpeg file on the pc?

It could be a media related problem. Does the cd you burned exhibit the same pixelation when you play it on your PC?

Try burning with different media and/or at a lower speed. Some media you may want to try: Verbatim, Smartbuy (Prodisc), or Memorex.

A vcd should play in any softwar dvd player such as POWERDVD or WINDVD.

Alternatively, you can drag and drop the avseq01.dat (or other avseq*.dat files) into a media player such as WMP 6.4 or simply load the avseq01.dat file in BSPLAYER.

I am pretty sure Windows Media Player 9 now supports SVCD and VCD doesn't it

Nope, only mpeg-1; for svcd's you still need a special WMP codec.
