    DIVX to DVD

    Hi everyone

Some days ago I bought a new PC with a build in pioneer DVD-RW burner. I already had a lot of DIVX movies, and I would like to burn them to a DVD, playable in a standalone DVD player
A lot of sites, including this one told me exactly how to convert to
VCD, and than burn the movie to two CD-R's, but that is not what I want.

--> I want to put a full DIVX movie on one DVD-RW disk, without any loss of quality <--

At this point, there are no sites that can give me any "to the point" info about this process, so was wondering if any of you people could help me. Anything, from small tips to complete tutorials, is welcome

    Thanx in advance,

    Martijn

Well, I tried the method on your site, using tmpgenc. I all worked fine, untill I started encoding. After only 5 seconds I got an error message saying:

write error occured at address 77f42109 of module 'ntdll.dll with 00000000

I tried it several times, but it kept going wrong, and at this point I have no idea what to do.......

do you (or anyone else browsing this forum) know what to do about this????

            1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

            2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

            3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

              DIVX encoding error

This is what virtualdub tells me:

              video
frame size, fps (us per frame) 608x256 32.976fps (41708us)
number of frames (time) 151427 (1:45:15)
              Decompressor Xvid mpeg-4 codec
              number of key frames 1219
              min/avg/max/total key frame s 1705/13083/36055/15575k
              '' '' '' '' delta frame s 89/3938/27235

              audio
              sampling rate 48000 hertz
              channels 2 stereo
              sample precicion0-bit
compressing Fraunhofer IIs Mpeg layer3 codec
              preload skew 480 samples (0,03s)
              number of frames 263154
              min/avg/max total frame s 96/429/480 (110393k)

as extra info I can tell you this:
              1. in the first step of the TMPGEnc wizzard I chose NTSC
2.when opening the file in virtualdub i get the message : improper vbr audio encoding in the source avi, but the guide told me to ignore this

I really hope you can help me with that, anayway, thanx in advance for trying

oh, and while we're at it, I have this other small question. I tried encoding another movie ( pal ), and after succesfull encoding, I got 2 separate files ( a wav and a m2v). can I just burn these to a DVD, or won't that work??

              greetings Martijn

Your video contains a Variable Bitrate (VBR) .MP3 audiostream, which TMPGEnc cannot process.

                Converting .AVIs with VBR-MP3 Audio

Simply use NanDub to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Load your original .AVI into NanDub
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" - and choose "<No compression(PCM)>"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"
Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file).

You can then load both of these files into TMPGenc for further processing.

"oh, and while we're at it, I have this other small question. I tried encoding another movie ( pal ), and after succesfull encoding, I got 2 separate files ( a wav and a m2v). can I just burn these to a DVD, or won't that work??"

Nope. You then have to use a DVD authoring program to multiplex the video and audio streams and create .VOB and other required supporting files. You may be able to automate this process with the latest version of NERO.

                Let us know of your success ;>}

Please help me out one more time

                    Hey it's me agein

I'm sorry, I'm am starting to feel like kind of a pain in the ass, with all the question and problems

But I still have some minor things to ask

The encoding of the DIVX movie worked, but it splitted my movie in two parts again (wav and m2v)

can you give me some specific info on what to do with these
(which authoring program, how to use)

And I also managed to encode one other movie to a full working MPG2, but I don't really know how to burn these to a dvd that actually works
( I have nero 5.5 and pinnacle on my cpu, so I should be able to do it, but I don't wanna take any risk because the disks were quite exspensive)

please help me out one more time, and then I promiss to never be a pain in the ass again

                    Greetings Martijn
