    Low kbs with MP 3 codec when encoding :( ??

    Hi there.

    Iam having little trouble with my sound encoding.

    Iam using latest flaskmpeg 7.8.39 for video and latest virtual dub for audio.

    I have latest tsunami pack installed with only Faurhoffs MP3 codeck , not all those other direct filters ..

    Now video encoding goes well with all those guides around divx digest but iam having troubles in audio side.

    When I have encoded the video and start to encode audio with virtual dub, I choose the MP 3 but I dont get all the choices.

    The highest iam getting is 56kbits 24000hz , stereo , 7kbs

    And yes I have pressed the show all options thingy

    What could be wrong Iam supposed to get more audio options with MP3 right??

    I searched and installed Radium MP3 codec and now I have all the options there are supposed to be

    Weird problem , you would think that tsunamis MP3 codec should be good :/

    I had the same prob with the latest Tsunami (3.9.9).
    Had to install both Radium and Lame codecs separate to get all sampling/bitrates.

      i wonder HOW you installed 399 since it contains nothing but those mentioned filters.

      did you make sure that the mp3 filters were selected?

        Open Control Panel
        Select "Multimedia" (or WinXP equivalent)
        Select "Audio Codecs"
        UNcheck/Deactivate ALL .MP3 codecs EXCEPT the one that has "Professional" as part of its name
        Reboot

        Let us know of your success ;>}

          hello there..

          I had success when i uninstalled tsunami and installed radium mp3 separately , dont remember where i found it but now i have all the bits i can dream of

          I dont know what i did wrong , but perhaps i have messed codec packs too many times..

          Windows XP should have its own mp3 codec but i cannot see it anymore :/

          Well iam glad that Radium mp3 is working fine, nasty to install all the codecs separately but as long as it works i dont complain

          ps. I just remembered when I had tsunamis pack installed i could find Radiums config file, but when I started it I got nasty error and thats it :/

            That's all that counts.

            Be happy that you can't locate the XP .MP3 codec, as that's what was undoubtedly overriding the Radium codec and limiting you to 56Kbps ;>}

              Curse M$ then! ;D

              Why cant these guys do anything properly , if you put a codec in why not make it a good one not some halfworking light version codec..

              end of topic
