    Convert divx to mpeg

I wonder if anyone can help, I am trying to convert a dvix avi file to mpeg so I can burn as a vcd. I have had mixed success using pansonic mpeg1 encoder, sometimes the movie come out great but other times the picture converts ok but the sound lags behind by a couple of seconds. So I tried using TMPGEnc, which sems to be highly thought off, but when trying to import the divx file I get the message "can not open or unsurpported" any suggestions as why I get sound lag using pansonic or why tmpgenc refuses to read in the divx avi files, but does read in the sound file.

PS It says the movie is 23frames/second so I guess it is ntsc type.

    Thanks

Try using avi2vcd converter. It is terribly slow but it will work for just about everything

For TMPGEnc, have you installed the companion VFAPI plugin?

          setarip,

Make sure you have the latest version of the codec (4.12). You can find a download link on this site. Install the codec.

Go to TMPGEnc->Option->Environmental Setting...->VFAPI plug-in->and up the priority for Directshow Multimedia File Reader to 1. It's probably still the default -1. This should fix your problem.
You change the priority by right-licking on the plugin name and and choose "Higher Priority"

          Hope it works...

                Resolved

Thanks I have resolved this now,

                by installing kscodecs v433.

Had to make the sound into wav using virutal dub.

                found this info on
