fps ?

i have a file, when i check it in virtual dub it says it's 30. something fps. would that be an ntsc setting or what? in know ntsc is for 27fps.

ntsc is 29.970 fps, sometimes this is converted to 30 fps, but it might make the audio out of sync.

how can i remedy the problem? do i need to encode the audio seperately.. Thanks

Why do you need to remedy it, are you going to burn it for viewing on a standalone?
For viewing on your computer you don't need to change anything as long as you have the right codecs and the file is correct.

I have a similar question. If I have a large movie and I wanna make it smaller without sacrificing a lot of quality, can I reduce the framerate from 30 to 15? If that will make the audio out of sync, can I fix the audio, and would the resulting movie file be smaller?

You can change the framerate to 15 with the correct setting in Virtualdub (I assume you're talking avi (divx)) it will not make the audio out of sync.

For vcd and svcd it will work fine to on windows, some standalones might be able to handle it as well.
