    speeding up DVX

it's been running for about an hour and a half and still has almost 5 hours left. this is a problem as I want to turn it on at night and encode 2 or 3 videos during the night. now, at approximately 12 hours per movie, this becomes a problem. is there any way to speed up the process. using gknot, it was taking on average 4.5 to 5.5 hours per movie, but it's acting up lately and won't encode.

P4@1.8Ghz, 312Mb RAM. I guess I'll just have to deal with it taking that long then. oh well, no big loss, I have plenty of time now that school's over.

no, i wouldnt think you have to deal with that speed!

12h on a pentium 1.8ghz is far to long.

please describe in detail which settings, codec (incl. codec settings) you used!

using different settings can make a severe difference.

i converted one title these days with numerous settings and this resulted in extremely different processing times:

        movie is 1:57 in length
one time i had less than 3h per pass (somewhere around 2:20) and the other time it was more than 7h - depending on codec and settings!

using dvx and its syspack there is no need to care for colorspace conversion as dvx makes use of the fastest method.
